Quieted is protection without losing access
Confident promotions, suspicious messages, blocked messages, and messages you mute do not create normal message notifications or Inbox badge pressure. They remain available in Quieted so you can review the decision and correct it.
Important messages stay visible
NoRing keeps personal messages, active conversations, OTP and security codes, transactions, bill reminders, delivery updates, travel changes, appointments, and health or school alerts in Inbox when the local context supports them. Uncertain messages also stay in Inbox.
Control a sender instead of accepting one permanent label
Sender Rules can always notify, mute, block, keep only important alerts, or keep marketing quiet. A business can have a useful transaction alert in Inbox and a promotion in Quieted while both remain in one conversation.
Why the default SMS role is required
Android gives the active default SMS app the operational path needed to receive, write, send, organize, and control notifications for SMS/MMS. If NoRing loses that role, SMS Protection stops until the role is restored. RCS is not supported.
Set up NoRing
Choose SMS Protection
Call Protection and SMS Protection are set up independently, so enabling messages does not require enabling calls.
Make NoRing your default SMS app
Android grants the active default SMS app the role needed to reliably receive, write, send, organize, and control notifications for SMS/MMS.
Let local import finish
NoRing imports and indexes existing SMS/MMS history on the phone so your conversations remain available after setup.
Use Inbox and Quieted
Important and uncertain messages stay available in Inbox. Confident promotions, suspicious messages, blocked messages, and messages you choose to quiet stay in Quieted.
Restore the role if it is lost
If another app becomes the default, SMS Protection is no longer operational until you restore NoRing as the default SMS app.
Is NoRing a good fit?
NoRing is a free private spam text blocker for Android that classifies SMS/MMS on the phone and lets you control senders with explicit rules.
