NoRing FAQ

NoRing has two independently usable pillars: Call Protection and SMS Protection. You can set up either pillar or both. Full protection means calls and SMS/MMS.

Yes. Call Protection and SMS Protection are available for free. Free users may see restrained ads on eligible safe screens. NoRing Plus is optional, supports development, and removes ads while active; it does not unlock stronger protection.

No app can honestly promise to stop every unwanted communication. NoRing focuses on repeat unwanted callers and confident local message decisions. When NoRing is uncertain about a message, it keeps it available in Inbox.

NoRing uses Android incoming call filtering and local learning. If repeat unknown calls look like spam based on your own rejected or very short calls, NoRing can decline matching calls before they ring.

NoRing is best for repeat unknown callers that behave like spam. It can learn from rejected or very short unknown calls and can also block numbers you manually mark as spam. It does not silence every unfamiliar caller by default.

NoRing is a private alternative for people who want repeat unwanted calls kept quiet without joining a global caller-ID network. It does not try to be a social caller-ID database.

No. Android gives the default SMS app the role needed to reliably receive, write, send, organize, and control notifications for SMS/MMS. If NoRing loses that role, SMS Protection is not operational and NoRing will ask you to restore it.

NoRing supports SMS and MMS. RCS is not currently supported.

When you set up SMS Protection, NoRing imports and indexes your existing SMS/MMS history locally so conversations remain available. Message content and identifiers are not uploaded for protection.

Inbox is for messages allowed to reach your attention, including important alerts, personal messages, active conversations, and uncertain messages. Quieted holds confidently classified promotions, suspicious messages, blocked messages, and messages you choose to quiet without normal message notifications or Inbox badge pressure.

Yes. NoRing can keep an important transaction alert in Inbox while placing a promotion from the same business in Quieted. Conversation detail keeps both messages in one local timeline and shows their context.

NoRing can keep confident promotional and suspicious SMS/MMS quiet, and Sender Rules let you always notify, mute, keep only important alerts, keep marketing quiet, or block a sender. SMS Protection works only while NoRing is your default SMS app.

No. Contacts, call logs, phone numbers, SMS/MMS content, sender IDs, message metadata, protected history, local decisions, rules, and learning profiles stay on your Android phone. NoRing does not use cloud or cross-user scoring for protection or supply communication data to advertisers.

Call and SMS protection decisions do not depend on cloud spam scoring. NoRing can still use internet access for Google Play updates, optional purchase and install verification, ads and consent, Remote Config, and user-controlled diagnostics, but communication data is not sent to those services for protection.
